We Need Our Sleep

Wellness. We hear it a lot. Heck it's part of our name and my personal journey. Many, many others are too. Love the shift we are seeing in people turning to natural wellness for first line issues like sleep, pain and stress.

What does wellness really mean?

Wellness is practicing healthy habits on a daily basis to improve your body, mind and spirit. It is about striving for a healthy lifestyle, to feel better and balanced. Inside and out.

Things like getting plenty of sleep, eating healthy foods, reducing stress, exercising and making time for self care all make a huge impact on your overall well being.

We need our sleep

It may be the most important of them all. A great first (and ongoing) step. Your body needs that time to restore itself. It is necessary for your immune system. And many more benefits.

Getting a good nights sleep helps set the stage for a great next day.

Research from Harvard University found poor sleep affects our mood, motivation, judgment and perception (including memory). Poor sleep habits have a direct link to increased rates of dementia. Losing sleep also has a direct impact on how we learn and retain information.

How are you sleeping?

Do you have trouble falling asleep? Staying asleep? Toss and turn?

My favorite products to help with sleep

Two CBD products that help the most. The first was almost six years ago and when I found CBD to help me personally. It was the 500mg full spectrum oil drops. I took a full dropper (1ML) about an hour before bed. Now I put it in my morning coffee and use the CBD:THC gummies at night. Adding a bit more THC in a 5:1 ratio is an ideal medicinal dose for deep relaxation and sleep.

Other herbs for calm and sleep

How about a cup of Self Love tea before bed? Or mix your own herbs, you can't for wrong with lavender, rose or chamomile. I've also found ashwagandha to help with overall restlessness and sleep. If you are using cannabis (hemp or marijuana) in a tea, don't forget to decarboxylate first. (more on that in another blog or you can message us for help).

Take a bath

Have you tried our Best Sleep Ever bath soak? Lavender, sandalwood and chamomile essential oils plus CBD. So nice! You can even mix up your own bath salts using your CBD oil drops and other essential oils. Mix it all together first then add it to your hot bath water. I soak for about 20 mins with the lights down low. Then body butter, fuzzy socks, fresh PJs and ZZZZZZ.
