What Is CBD?

Cannabidiol or CBD is one of the 100+ compounds found in the aerial parts of the hemp and cannabis plants. It is’s a non-intoxicating cannabinoid that has the ability to act on receptors that are part of the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) in our bodies, and all animals with a spine.

Is CBD Legal?

Yes, CBD is legal if it is hemp derived and it contains less than 0.3% THC. The 2018 Farm Bill legalized the production and sale of hemp and its extracts.

Does CBD Get You High?

No, hemp-derived full spectrum CBD oil has trace amounts of THC (less than 0.3%) and does not produce a psychoactive effect.

How Does CBD Work?

Humans and animals (any animal with a spine) have receptors that are part of a very important regulating system called the Endocannabinoid System (ECS). This system, discovered in 1992 at Hebrew University, helps regulate the body’s other systems and it helps them maintain a balance (homeostatis). The ECS receptors are located in the brain, organs, connective tissues, glands, and immune cells. When our body achieves homeostasis, it operates at optimal performance.

Along with the other 100+ cannabinoids, via the ECS, CBD helps regulate certain vital functions of the body, including: sleep, pain, inflammation, immune, appetite, pleasure and more.

What are CBD's health benefits? How can CBD help me or my loved ones?

A recent article by Harvard Medical School says: “CBD may be prove to be an option for managing anxiety, insomnia, and chronic pain.”

  • Pain, insomnia and anxiety are most common, but CBD has shown promise treating many other illnesses.
  • Autoimmune disorders including lupus, MS, rheumatoid arthritis, celiac disease, fibromyalgia, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD: crohns and colitis), diabetes - have improved with regular use of CBD.

A recent study by Ethan Russo M.D., Director of Research and Development of the International Cannabis and Cannabinoids Institude has theorized: "Endocannabinoid deficiency could be the cause behind irritable bowel syndrome, fibromyalgia, migraine, and other treatment-resistant auto immune syndromes."

Why? CBD reduces inflammation and supports the immune system, allowing the body's self-defense to recognize the difference between normal anatomy and foreign bodies.

Where Do I Start? Topical or Ingestible?

Customers new to CBD are often confused on where to start. We may ask a few clarifying questions to help guide you. Why are you taking it? Is it for pain? Is it for insomnia or autoimmune illnesses?

  • Topical: for all types of pain in a specific area (low back, neck, knee, etc), healing irritated skin, or as part of any skincare regimen. Does not enter bloodstream.
  • Ingested (tincture) Oil, gummies, tea: for insomnia, anxiety, autoimmune illness, systemic pain or inflammation, seizures, other neurological conditions, cancer, and more. Enters the bloodstream.

Can CBD Help My Pets?

Cornell University is leading this research in veterinary medicine. They tell us pets can benefit from CBD in the same way that that it helps humans. Most commonly used for pain, inflammation and anxiety, we also see it helping pets with seizures and cancer.
